Our History

For 38 years, the Canadian Tamil Sports Association (CTSA) has been a cornerstone of the Canadian Tamil sporting community, creating opportunities for athletes of all ages while strengthening the role of sport within the community. What began as a vision to bring people together through athletic competition has grown into one of Canada's longest-standing and most respected Tamil sporting organizations.

Throughout its history, CTSA has proudly organized and hosted numerous premier sporting events that have become annual traditions within the community. These include the Tamil Eelam Challenge Cup for Soccer, Volleyball, and Cricket, the Pon Sivakumaran Cup, annual Track & Field Championships, and a variety of competitive soccer tournaments that have welcomed clubs and athletes from across Canada. CTSA has also supported the organization of Kilithattu tournaments, helping preserve and promote the national sport of Tamil Eelam for future generations.

Beyond hosting competitions, CTSA has played an active role in developing sport at every level by supporting youth teams, adult men's teams, and women's teams across multiple disciplines. The association has also worked in close partnership with the Tamil Eelam Football Association (TEFA) Canada, assisting in the planning, organization, and delivery of national team initiatives, tournaments, and community football events.

As CTSA celebrates its 38th year, its success continues to be built on the passion and dedication of volunteers, athletes, coaches, officials, clubs, and community leaders. Looking ahead, CTSA remains committed to expanding opportunities, advancing sport within the Canadian Tamil community, and building upon a proud legacy that has inspired generations of athletes both on and off the field.
